The one-mile walk down Main Street includes the story of the self-emancipated Quock Walker, a young man from Barre, MA of Akan lineage who took his former enslaver to court in Worcester for assault and battery and won. The Walker case resulted in a 1783 ruling that outlawed slavery in Massachusetts. July 8, 2023 marks the states first official celebration of Quock Walker Day.
Parking available at the lot behind the Lincoln Sq. War Memorial located on the corner of Institute Road and Grove Street.
