Technocopia Tool Training: Embroidery Machine

Learn the basics and safe use of an embroidery machine and software.
About this event
This class is for people new to machine embroidery. The goal of this class is to gain familiarity with the studio's Brother Innovis NQ1600E machine and learn the skills necessary to use it independently. Students will learn the parts of the embroidery machine, how to thread, operate and maintain the machine, and how to properly set up the fabric in the hoop using appropriate stabilizer(s). We will also go over the basics of the embroidery software available on the Textile Studio computer and how to transfer machine embroidery files to the machine for stitchout.

- **For this course, students are required to have already successfully completed Sewing Machine 101 at Technocopia or received equivalent certification.
- If you would like to take this class but are not available at the listed times, this class may also be scheduled separately by contacting the instructor at jessica.sadlier@technocopia.org.
- Successful completion of this course will result in certification of Technocopia members for independent use of the tools directly covered in the course. Non-members who complete this course will be eligible to participate in future project-based classes which require these tools.

About This Instructor
Jessica Sadlier is a Technocopia member with extensive experience in sewing, both garment and craft, and fiber arts. She is a multi-disciplinary designer and maker with an extensive history of creative projects and pursuits who has worked in a variety of disciplines including architecture, design tech, marketing, prop design and costume design. Jessica loves to combine various media and techniques to create interesting projects ranging from functional decor to wearable tech. She relishes the challenges and thrills of learning new skills and enjoys sharing this experience with others through fun, accessible, and high quality creative educational experiences.

Need Help Submitting an Event on Our Events Calendar?
- Go to the discovercentralma.org website and scroll to bottom of page
- To only enter events into the calendar and not become a Discover Central MA member, click Already a member? Login to your account
- Fill out the information in English to Create an Account and click Create Account
- You will then be directed to a page where you can post events
- Select Manage My Events to enter events into the calendar
- Click Create Event button
- Enter the name in English and dates of your event and select Create Event & Continue
- Add in all event details in English and an image that is under 690 pixels
- When finished, check the box that says Request addition to the Downtown Worcester Calendar
- Click Send to Review
All posted events will be subject to review by the Discover Central Massachusetts and Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District staff prior to approval.
