On Sunday, December 11th join Flamenco Worcester students and friends for an evening filled with live performances featuring two amazing artforms: Flamenco dancing and Latin Jazz!
In a 75-minutes performance, Flamenco Worcester students, under the direction of Edmy Ortiz, along with local professional musicians, will introduce the audience to a traditional and highly expressive Flamenco Christmas party. Villancicos is a Spanish poetic and musical form that was popular from the late 15th to 18th century. In the 20th century, the term more commonly means "Christmas carol." Today, in Spanish-speaking countries the singing of villancicos is a favorite form of musical expression during Advent and Nativity. It is usually performed during the Christmas parties also called Zambombas in Spain or Parrandas Navideñas/Aguinaldos in Latin America. Special guest performers include: Yuling Spanish Dance, Flamenco Boston and Eduardo Ortiz Latin Jazz. It will be a magical, festive event.
The Spanish holiday spirit will definitely be in the air! This event will not only allow the audience to participate, it will continue to highlight years of dedication by the Flamenco Worcester Studio, but will also help support local artists and musicians and promote cultural awareness and diversity to the Worcester community.
Help us celebrate the season at the wonderful BrickBox Theater, this event is possible thanks to the sponsorship and support of the Barr Foundation, Worcester Cultural Coalition and the JMAC organization.
