October Walking Peace Tour of Worcester

Walking Tour of Worcester's Peace History Sunday, October 9, 2PM
This unique tour celebrates some of the city's many peacemaking forebearers. Come learn about the strategic peace of Massasoit, Great Sachem of Wampanoag peoples. Meet the Black laborer whose case ended slavery in Massachusetts. Hear the stirring speeches of abolitionists and advocates for the rights of women and immigrants. Dramatic re-enactments and audience participation make for a lively as well as informative tour along Worcesters' Main Street. Walk starts at Lincoln Square and finishes at City Hall. Approximately 1.5 hours. Parking available in lot across from Worcester Auditorium.

The walking tour of Worcester’s Peace history, put on by the Center for Nonviolent Solutions, was a wonderful excursion into Worcester’s inspiring history of activism for peace, and racial and gender equality. The lecturers and actors did a superb job in bringing to life the citizens of Worcester who fought for these great causes, from colonial times to the modern day . . .
These dynamic and inspiring stories, creatively told, immersed us in Worcester's vital role in American history. We gained new insights and appreciation of our city and its people while walking down Main Street.

Need Help Submitting an Event on Our Events Calendar?
- Go to the discovercentralma.org website and scroll to bottom of page
- To only enter events into the calendar and not become a Discover Central MA member, click Already a member? Login to your account
- Fill out the information in English to Create an Account and click Create Account
- You will then be directed to a page where you can post events
- Select Manage My Events to enter events into the calendar
- Click Create Event button
- Enter the name in English and dates of your event and select Create Event & Continue
- Add in all event details in English and an image that is under 690 pixels
- When finished, check the box that says Request addition to the Downtown Worcester Calendar
- Click Send to Review
All posted events will be subject to review by the Discover Central Massachusetts and Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District staff prior to approval. Please submit events at least two weeks in advance as it can take up to 7-9 days for your event to appear on our events calendar. Please review event guidelines HERE.
