Clark’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents “Big Black Balloon,” a new play by Clark alum Eljon Wardally ’03, on Wednesday, March 23rd – Sunday, March 27th at The Grind, Higgins University Center.

“Big Black Balloon” explores the relationship between Henry and Cleo, two people whose insecurities trigger their imaginary friends to return and take over their lives. Set in a studio apartment in L.A., the city of celebrity also serves as a character igniting the pressure to be beautiful and glamorous at all costs.

Eljon Wardally is a Playwright and Screenwriter born in New York with Grenadian roots. She is a four-time O’Neill finalist, a MENA Sundance semi-finalist and a Princess Grace Playwriting Award semi-finalist. Her film and web series, Docket 32357, has been in over 45 festivals worldwide. Her most recent short, Black Americanah for Sale, was featured in Vanity Fair. She has scripted a number of commercials including MLB, “4 Us 2 Remember” and NYWIFT “Because of Them, We Can” and has produced content for MTV. Eljon attended Clark University and received her MFA in Playwriting from Fordham/Primary Stages as part of its Inaugural class.

Jackie Davis is an actor, director and choreographer working in theater, film and television primarily on the east coast. She can be seen as abolitionist, Susan Robbins in Columbia Pictures’ Film, Little Women.  Notable theatre directing credits include Paradise Blue, Ruined, and For Colored Girls Who Consider Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.   Jackie is on staff with Trinity Repertory Theatre’s Education Department as a Teaching Artist. She is a Master Teacher for  their Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI). She is also part of the Movement Faculty for the Brown/Trinity MFA Program.
