As a pianist\, Alex has has studied with some of the greatest pianists in jazz history\, including Hank Jones\, Don Friedman\, Jean-Michel Pilc\, and James Williams\, and has performed in most of the country's most famous jazz rooms\, such as Birdland\, the Blue Note\, Cafe Carlyle\, Yoshi's\, Bohemian Caverns\, Herb Alpert's Vibrato\, Iridium\, Jazz @ Lincoln Center\, and the Apollo Theater. \nHe has shared the stage with such legends as James Ingram\, Arturo Sandoval\, ?UESTLOVE\, Sam Moore\, Marylin McCoo\, Joe Pesci\, Antony Hegarty\, Steve Jordan\, Mel Carter\, Lenny Welch\, Curtis Fuller\, Hank Jones\, and Clark Terry\, and with such jazz greats as Brian Lynch\, Billy Pierce\, Sheila Jordan\, Gary Bartz and Hugh Masekela. The motif of a single fold\, the “turn down\,” bends the picture plane and emphasizes the ambiguities of front and back\, image and object\, and painting and sculpture. Join us! The day begins with the return of our Revolutionary War walking tour of the streets of downtown Worcester. Led by Salisbury Mansion manager Bob Stacy\, you will see the historic sites and learn about Worcester’s role in the War for Independence that we celebrate on this day. Tours begin from Salisbury Mansion\, 40 Highland Street at 10AM. Tours are $10 a person and registration is required; please call 508.753.8278. Can’t be part of the Patriot’s Day tour\, additional tours will be offered on April 21 and 23. Tours are rain or shine. \nTo continue the Patriot’s Day celebration\, John Hancock’s trunk returns to public view. Stop by Worcester Historical Museum\, 30 Elm Street\, on Monday\, April 18 between 10AM and 4PM to learn more about “the box of treason” and the story of the trunk that was kept from British hands. Who better to tell the story than John Hancock himself? He will be here with his trunk from 10AM to 2PM to tell you more about his role in the revolution and his time spent in Worcester. The trunk only comes out once a year so this is your last chance to see it until 2023. Worcester Historical Museum\, 30 Elm Street\, open April 18th FREE from 10AM to 4PM. DESCRIPTION:You've always wanted to tell that story about your life\, your community\, and your family. But how do you get started? How do you develop a consistent writing practice? What is the best story to tell? \nMore than ever\, the personal narrative has become our mainstay in conversing about race\, immigration\, identity\, ourselves\, and a myriad of intersectionalities. You could be a part of this conversation and write your own personal story. \nThis workshop will teach emerging writers how to get started with writing their personal stories. \nWorkshop Takeaways: \n1. Participants will learn the importance of journaling to enhance their writing practice. \n2. Participants will learn the basics of the first drafting process. \nLeslie-Ann Murray is a fiction writer from Trinidad & Tobago. She created Brown Girl Book Lover where she interviews diverse writers and reviews books that should be at the forefront of our imagination. She is currently working on her first novel\, This Has Made Us Beautiful. Leslie-Ann has been published in Poets & Writers\, Zone3\, Ploughshares\, and Salamander Literary Magazine.
