SUMMARY:Oasis
DESCRIPTION:“ In war\, everyone loses something.  Sometimes it’s just life itself.“\nAward-winning drama by Amir Peter\, OASIS tells the story of Noel\, a young Frenchman who\, in the 1950s\, was sent for reserve military duty to the sand dunes of Algeria. He is faced with moral and ethical dilemmas\, which bring him to embark on a surreal and dangerous journey through the Sahara Desert. The year is 1956. Paris\, the City of Lights\, is still recovering from World War II. The dresses grow short\, and chansons fill the air. Noel\, a young painter\, is living his dreams in Paris. He lives in Montmartre\, sketches on the banks of the Seine\, and falls in love. At war\, far from his homeland\, he is met with moral dilemmas that lead him to do or die. This is the story of a man\, who has agreed to lose everything\, so as not to lose himself."""

SUMMARY:Call for Artists
DESCRIPTION:This is a FREE & OPEN call for artists! Submit your work by August 24th at 8pm to be included in the Bouncy House Time Machine exhibit at the Worcester PopUp. Submissions will be accepted until August 31st at 2pm\, but will be subject to exhibit availability. \nPlease click here to learn more and submit your art! \n  \nSeptember 14th to October 6th\nOpening reception: Thurs Sept 15th 6-10pm\nWorcester PopUp | 20 Franklin St\, Worcester\, MA 01608 \nThe exhibit is free to view at the Worcester PopUp for its entire duration. Artists and the public are invited to the free opening reception\, where there will be sweets\, a cash bar\, games\, music\, and of course — a BOUNCY HOUSE!  \nBHTM is friendly to all ages but targets the experiences of adults 18+. Any and all people wanting to share childlike happiness with each other are encouraged and welcome. \nSo much of what our community has experienced over the past few years has left adults with a need to grieve\, be angry\, be scared\, and grow up in ways we never expected. It has also left us with a need to find joy in silly accidents\, laugh like kids do\, and view some days through the eyes of a child. \nIn this exhibit\, artists are encouraged and even challenged to think and create like kids again. We will transform the PopUp into a happy place for one’s inner child\, and encourage adults to let their worries go while in that space. I hope that our community can have a brief respite from “adulting” in this era when they experience Bouncy House Time Machine.\n\nWhether you think of finding bugs and cool rocks on a walk\, the smell of sunscreen at summer camp\, or silly playground scrapes\, your memories and your joy are welcome. Allow yourself to view life and art with cheer\, innocence\, and wide-eyed curiosity. This exhibit is open to anyone wanting to feel like a kid again\, through art of their own and as admirers of others’.

SUMMARY:Poetry Writing Workshop with Susan Roney-O’Brien (Virtual) - July
DESCRIPTION:This virtual poetry workshop is a vehicle for critique\, a time of close reading and thoughtful responses that help craft the written word so that it says exactly what the author intends. The focus is the work itself. Poets are respectful of each other\, value the craft\, understand the courage it takes to have work critiqued\, and make the final decisions about their own writing. Please join us. Writing prompts will be shared with registrants one week before the workshop\, and we request you submit your work at least three days before the workshop to give attendees time to read your poem. \nSusan Roney-O’Brien earned her MFA at Warren Wilson College and is the author of five poetry collections. She hosts monthly poetry readings\, teaches workshops and coordinates the Stanley Kunitz summer writing series. \nThank you to our Summer Reading sponsors: UniBank\, Mattina R. Proctor Foundation\, Country Bank\, Walmart\, Cornerstone Bank\, District Attorney Joseph D.
