Come to this low-stakes\, generative writing session for all levels and experience. You will practice a creative process for writing from life that you can repeat on your own. Through writing exercises for personal essay and memoir centered on the holidays\, however you define the holidays\, we will write in community. Sharing your writing is not required. Everyone is welcome. \nGrace Talusan is the author of The Body Papers\, the winner of the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing\, the winner in nonfiction for the 2020 Massachusetts Book Awards\, and a New York Times Editors’ Choice selection. Few parallels exist for South Asian women because we often think of them as playing their assigned roles in society. They have been captured as doting mothers\, loyal wives\, goddesses in temples\, and homemakers performing chores. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the holiday season with Christmas sounds from around the world and across centuries! \nChristmas at Mechanics Hall\, organized by the Hall’s Composer-in-Residence Leonardo Ciampa\, will feature a variety of festive music—from African American spirituals to traditional carols—as well as a selection of new holiday pieces composed just for this concert by Mr. Ciampa. \nPerformers include the a cappella Westborough High School Chamber Singers\, directed by Alyson Greer Espinosa; the acclaimed\, Boston-based vocal group Ensemble Lyrae; soloists Elizabeth Keusch\, soprano; Michelle Deluise\, mezzo-soprano; Christon Carney\, tenor; and Eliomar Nascimento\, bass; and Mr. Ciampa on the Hall's Worcester "Hook" Organ. At the end of the program\, the audience will be invited to join the performers in an informal carol sing-a-long. \nThis free noontime concert is presented by Mechanics Hall and the Worcester chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

SUMMARY:Digital Design: Tinkercad-Create a 3D Object with Technocopia (December)
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will teach computer aided design using Tinkercad. Tinkercad is a free fun software system that allows users to build using basic shapes on an x\, y and z plane. It is a great way to learn the basics of 3D modeling and the possibilities of 3D printing! Join us to build and create a three dimensional model of your own or one inspired by a media or literary source. Every student will be able to submit one “2.5 x 2.5” design for 3D printing at the library. These prints will be available at the library two weeks after the workshop date. Ages 16+. The Christmas-time live version of the show draws on Celtic\, Pagan\, and Christian traditions to celebrate the music of the season. A Christmas Celtic Sojourn reflects the compelling and diverse offerings of the weekly national radio program plus the excitement of a live show featuring the Celtic world’s best performers. The 2022 iteration of the show promises once again to be one of the chestnuts of the region’s Christmas offerings. \nBrian O’Donovan returns as host and producer. Its touring schedule regularly includes appearances in such venues as Worcester’s Mechanics Hall\, the Collins Center in Andover\, and the Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College in Fall River.
