SUMMARY:The Crucible
DESCRIPTION:This event will take place at the Jean McDonough Arts Center BrickBox Theatre\, 20 Franklin St\, Worcester\, MA 01608 \nTHT Rep presents\nAn Experimental Staged Reading of The Crucible\,\nby Arthur Miller \n2 1/2 Hr Staged Reading + Optional 30 Min Community Dialogue \nAn Experimental Staged Reading Directed by Livy Scanlon Featuring an All-Female Cast. \nWidely considered one of the greatest American plays ever written\, The Crucible dramatizes the Salem\, MA witch trials of the late 1600s. Miller originally wrote the piece in response to the McCarthy-era communist “witch hunt” that gripped the United States in the 1950s. \nTHT Rep Artistic Director Livy Scanlon is curious to see how the play’s themes of misogyny\, hate and fear mongering\, religious extremism and persecution against women resonate in today’s world when an all-female cast plays both the womens’ and mens’ roles. Join us for a staged reading to explore this concept\, ask questions and give your feedback at an optional post-reading community dialogue. \nTiered tickets from $8-$110. Click here to learn more about our tiered ticket pricing.\nPlease contact the box office at 877.571.SHOW (7469) for more information.

SUMMARY:The Red Hot Chilli Pipers
DESCRIPTION:March 11th 2023\, 8:00 pm \nBagpipes with attitude. Drums with a Scottish accent. A blazing rock band and show so hot\, it carries its own health warning! \n90 mins plus intermission \nIt’s Bagpipes. It’s Rock. It’s Bagrock. AC/DC meets the poet Robert Burns. Where rock anthems sit comfortably alongside the great tunes from the glens and the mountains of Scotland. It’s The Red Hot Chili Pipers (not the Peppers)! They are the most famous bagpipe band on the planet – ever! An internationally renowned ensemble consisting of pipers\, guitarists\, keyboards\, and drummers\, they have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing to Melbourne and everywhere in between with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. \nThe band has four music degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the pipers and drummers have played at the top level in bagpiping. Formed in 2002\, The Chillis have fast become a global phenomenon\, taking their signature ‘Bagrock’ sound to the masses with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres. Their trademarked sound is a unique fusion of traditional pipe tunes – like “The Flowers of Scotland”\, “The Hills of Argyll”\, and “Amazing Grace” (done Chilli-style\, of course!) — and contemporary anthems from legendary classic rock groups like Queen\, Coldplay\, Robbie Williams\, AC/DC and many more. Put on your tartan kilts\, feel the Chilli heat and come rock with them! \nTickets are $32\, and $42 depending on seat location. Contact the box office at 877.571.SHOW (7469) for more information. \nMember on sale November 25\nPublic on sale November 28

SUMMARY:Virtual Poetry Writing Workshop with Susan Roney-O'Brien (March)
DESCRIPTION:This virtual poetry workshop is a vehicle for critique\, a time of close reading and thoughtful responses that help craft the written word so that it says exactly what the author intends. The focus is the work itself. Poets are respectful of each other\, value the craft\, understand the courage it takes to have work critiqued\, and make the final decisions about their own writing. Please join us.  \nWriting prompts will be shared with registrants one week before the workshop via a shared Google Document\, and we request you submit your work at least three days before the workshop to give attendees time to read your poem. The link to the Google Document can be found in the confirmation email when you register.  \nSusan Roney-O’Brien earned her MFA at Warren Wilson College and is the author of five poetry collections. She hosts monthly poetry readings\, teaches workshops and coordinates the Stanley Kunitz summer writing series.
