SUMMARY:Cara Brindisi: The Snow Globe Tour
DESCRIPTION:Fresh off season 22 of NBC's The Voice\, join Worcester's own\, Cara Brindisi for her last stop on The Snow Globe Tour. You may have seen Cara perform numerous times over the years at Mechanics Hall as direct support for local and national acts.  This holiday\, don't miss her headlining show in The Great Hall with special performances by other artists from The Voice!  The evening will include a mix of holiday tunes\, original songs\, her own renditions of her nationally televised performances\, and stories from the stage.\n  \nAbout Cara Brindisi:\nDescribed as 'perfect' by John Legend and 'hypnotic' by Blake Shelton\, Cara Brindisi is a vocalist with equal parts power and ease. After a decade of performances that include direct support for Chris Isaak\, Tower of Power\, Adam Lambert\, and Dispatch\, Cara brought her talents to The Voice stage season 22\, landing her a spot on Team Gwen. Gwen Stefani acknowledged the soothing and effortless quality to Cara's voice as well as her gift for story-telling. Cara has been writing\, recording\, and performing original music for the entirety of her career\, many of her songs inspired by her initial career as a Music Therapist. Her studies at Berklee College of Music led her to pursue this work\, predominantly with those at end of life in Hospice. Somewhere between these two careers\, the gentle and the glamour\, lies the authentic feeling one is guaranteed when listening to Cara Brindisi perform live in any type of setting.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception of Saffron Notes: Paintings of South Asian Women. A Solo Exhibition by Piya Samant
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the opening reception of Saffron Notes. An exhibition featuring featuring oil paintings of South Asian women by visual artist Piya Samant. There will be refreshments\, and a cash bar. This event is free and open to the public. This project is funded by a Worcester Arts Council and Mass Cultural Council grant. #wacfunded \nExhibition runs : December 7 – 21\, 2022. \nThe 'Saffron Notes' Story \nFor centuries\, western artists have celebrated women by portraying them as beautiful\, powerful\, and sometimes as nobility. Few parallels exist for South Asian women because we often think of them as playing their assigned roles in society. They have been captured as doting mothers\, loyal wives\, goddesses in temples\, and homemakers performing chores. Seldom does the art world see them as a muse and capture their beauty for who they are\, independent of their role in society. \nThis collection attempts to portray South Asian women in their ephemeral moments of solitude\, beauty\, and thoughts of self-worth\, free from societal burdens. — Piya Samant \nLet’s Connect: Instagram: @art.by.piyali\nFacebook: @artbypiyali | TikTok: @piyasamant | Website: https://www.artbypiyali.com/ \nArtist Bio: Born and raised in India\, Piya Samant now lives and paints in the awe-inspiring New England region\, USA. After pursuing a career in Technology\, she picked up the brush again in 2014 and commenced her full-time art practice.  Piya’s paintings are characterized by colorful\, light-filled canvases in a painterly style. Her work is exhibited in museums and galleries across USA. As a self-taught artist\, Piya has learned art techniques by observing artworks of Master artists. She is represented by PXPContemporary and ArtsPlus galleries. \nIn 2022\, Piya received a WCC/ Mass Cultural State grant to further her painting endeavors. \nArtist Statement: 'Beauty is fleeting and my desire to capture the beauty of life (be it human\, flora or fauna) is irresistable. I connect with people's body language more than their words. Through painting I attempt to immortalize the beauty of my subjects in their entirety; not just their face and body but also their character. Floral stilllifes are a delight to paint because I am able to project emotions onto unsuspecting flowers through the play of light and strategically placed brushstrokes.'

SUMMARY:VILLANCICOS FLAMENCOS! A Christmas Showcase
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, December 11th join Flamenco Worcester students and friends for an evening filled with live performances featuring two amazing artforms: Flamenco dancing and Latin Jazz!  \nIn a 75-minutes performance\, Flamenco Worcester students\, under the direction of Edmy Ortiz\, along with local professional musicians\, will introduce the audience to a traditional and highly expressive Flamenco Christmas party. Villancicos is a Spanish poetic and musical form that was popular from the late 15th to 18th century. In the 20th century\, the term more commonly means "Christmas carol." Today\, in Spanish-speaking countries the singing of villancicos is a favorite form of musical expression during Advent and Nativity. It is usually performed during the Christmas parties also called Zambombas in Spain or Parrandas Navideñas/Aguinaldos in Latin America. Special guest performers include: Yuling Spanish Dance\, Flamenco Boston and Eduardo Ortiz Latin Jazz. It will be a magical\, festive event. \nThe Spanish holiday spirit will definitely be in the air! This event will not only allow the audience to participate\, it will continue to highlight years of dedication by the Flamenco Worcester Studio\, but will also help support local artists and musicians and promote cultural awareness and diversity to the Worcester community. \nHelp us celebrate the season at the wonderful BrickBox Theater\, this event is possible thanks to the sponsorship and support of the Barr Foundation\, Worcester Cultural Coalition and the JMAC organization. \n*Photography by Anastasia Sierra\, June 4th\, 2022.

SUMMARY:Get the Led Out
DESCRIPTION:From the bombastic and epic\, to the folky and mystical\, Get The Led Out (GTLO) have captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live\, like you’ve never heard before. Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal\, GTLO re-create the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. When you hear three guitars on the album…GTLO delivers three guitarists on stage. No wigs or fake English accents\, GTLO brings what the audience wants…a high energy Zeppelin concert with an honest\, heart-thumping intensity. \nA GTLO concert mimics the “light and shade” that are the embodiment of “The Mighty Zep.” Whether it’s the passion and fury with which they deliver the blues-soaked\, groove-driven rock anthems\, it’s their attention to detail and nuance that makes a Get The Led Out performance a truly awe-inspiring event!

SUMMARY:Music Worcester Presents: Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn
DESCRIPTION:Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn\, “the king and queen of the banjo” (Paste Magazine)\, have a musical partnership like no other. Béla Fleck is a fifteen-time Grammy Award winner who has taken the instrument across multiple genres\, and Abigail Washburn a singer-songwriter and clawhammer banjo player who re-radicalized it by combining it with Far East culture and sounds. The two met at a square dance\, began collaborating musically and eventually fell in love. Over the years\, they played together most visibly in the Sparrow Quartet alongside Ben Sollee and Casey Driessen and informally at a pickin’ party here\, a benefit there\, or occasionally popping up in each other’s solo shows. Fans of tradition-tweaking acoustic fare eagerly anticipated that Béla & Abigail would begin making music together as a duo.
