DESCRIPTION:Join the City of Worcester Cultural Development Division\, Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District\, and Worcester Cultural Coalition on Thursday\, July 21st downtown at the Worcester Common for the first installment of this season’s “Movies on the Common” series. \nStep into the magical world of Disney’s “Encanto” to discover a heartfelt and whimsical family story for all to enjoy! \nThe movie will begin at sundown\, though movie-goers may want to arrive as early as 6:30pm to select their seats. Available space is on a first-come\, first serve-basis -attendees may bring their own blankets or chairs or use seating available on the Common. Refreshments can be purchased on-site\, or attendees can bring their own. \nEnglish closed captioning available for the Deaf and hard of hearing. \nDisney’s “Encanto” (2021) – PG; 99 minutes: \nDeep in the Colombian mountains\, the Madrigal family possesses an extraordinary secret. Each member of the family is able to perform magic. Yet at the heart of the family is 15-year-old Mirabel\, who does not seem to possess any unusual abilities. Faced with this harsh reality\, Mirabel struggles to reconcile her place within her family while searching for who she truly is. \nThe next Movies on the Common event on August 18th will be a screening of "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

SUMMARY:Tee Off For WPL! Mini Golf After Dark Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:This event will see the WPL Main Library transformed into an 18-hole mini golf course with greens and holes winding through the stacks. Friday night Mini Golf After Dark will offer an adults (21+) only mini golf event with food\, adult beverages and music. A diverse selection of ethnic food will be provided by Worcester Regional Food Hub. Beer and wine will be available for purchase by Redemption Rock Brewery and Decanted Wine Trucks. SUMMARY:Technocopia Tool Training: Embroidery Machine
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics and safe use of an embroidery machine and software. \nAbout this event \nThis class is for people new to machine embroidery. The goal of this class is to gain familiarity with the studio's Brother Innovis NQ1600E machine and learn the skills necessary to use it independently. Students will learn the parts of the embroidery machine\, how to thread\, operate and maintain the machine\, and how to properly set up the fabric in the hoop using appropriate stabilizer(s). SUMMARY:Massachusetts Pirates vs. Frisco Fighters - OPENING NIGHT
DESCRIPTION:The Massachusetts Pirates and Frisco Fighters will meet for both teams’ first game of the 2022 season at the Phoenix Field at the DCU Center in Worcester\, MA. The last time these two teams matched up against each other was in the IFL Semi-Final game at Phoenix Field where the Pirates came away with the win\, 43-22 to advance to the United Bowl. The most notable game between both teams was during their second game versus each other in 2021 when Josh Griggs kicked a 27-yard game-winning field goal. A former Pirates player now is a part of the Fighters roster as Pirates long-time fan favorite Defensive Lineman JD Griggs signed with Frisco during this offseason. \nThe Pirates have a 2-1 record (1-1 at the DCU Center) versus the Fighters during their matchups in 2021\, which was the first season that both the Pirates and Fighters were a part of the Indoor Football League. Over their three matchups\, the Pirates edged out the Fighters in their rushing attack 253-219 yards\, while the Fighters edged out the Pirates in their passing attack 271-240 yards. In terms of scoring\, the Pirates outscored the Fighters 114-99. \nThe Pirates will be revealing their United Bowl Championship banner during the pre-game ceremony and will be looking to start their path to defending the championship with a win in front of their home fans. Kickoff is at 7:00pm and doors open at 6:00pm. \n
