DESCRIPTION:Join the renowned “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band for an evening of spirited selections\, ranging from classical to popular. \nFive years have passed since the scarlet coats of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band last appeared on stages in the Northeast of the United States. In the style of the band's 17th Director John Philip Sousa\, who initiated the concert tour tradition in 1891\, Marine Band Director Col. Jason K. Fettig has chosen a diverse mix of programs\, from traditional band repertoire and Sousa marches to instrumental solos and a salute to the Armed Forces. Free tickets are available (limit four per request) by clicking the "Register" tab on the upper right of this page. Seating is general admission and ticket holders must be seated by 7:15pm; remaining seats will be released to the standby line at that time.\n  \nEstablished in 1798 by an Act of Congress signed by President John Adams\, the United States Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. The band made its White House debut on New Year’s Day\, 1801\, and has performed at the inauguration of every President since Thomas Jefferson\, who is credited with giving the band the title\, “The President’s Own.” \nFrom the earliest days of our nation\, the Marine Band’s primary mission has been to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Performing for state arrival ceremonies\, dinners\, receptions\, and accompanying famous entertainers\, Marine Band musicians appear at the White House more than 200 times each year. DESCRIPTION:The Travelin’ McCourys do not stand still. They are on the road—and online—entertaining audiences with live shows that include some of the best musicians and singers from all genres. It’s always different\, always exciting\, and always great music. \nNo other band today has the same credentials for playing traditional and progressive music. As the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury\, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo continue their father’s work—a lifelong dedication to the power of bluegrass music to bring joy into people’s lives. And with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram\, the ensemble is loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful. But the band is now combining their sound with others to make something fresh and rejuvenating. \nThey recently played with the Allman Brothers at Wanee Fest and then brought the house down at Warren Haynes’ Annual Christmas Jam\, an invitation only Southern Rock homecoming.  Their jam with the Lee Boys was hailed by many as the highlight of the evening\, and once word of the live video hit the streets\, sent new fans online to watch a supercharged combination of sacred steel\, R&B\, and bluegrass. They’ve also performed with Warren Haynes\, Phish\, and have a tour scheduled with the aforementioned Lee Boys. Ronnie McCoury described it as “peanut butter and jelly.” It was just right. \nThey can push forward so far because their roots are so deep. The band has a confidence that only comes with having paid their dues with twenty years on the bluegrass road. Other groups and new fans hear this immediately—the tight rhythm\, the soulful material\, and the confidence in taking bluegrass from the safety of the shore into uncharted waters. \nRonnie says\, “We like to go in and play traditional bluegrass music the way we do it with Dad\, but we also like to be able to step into situations where we can really stretch out. If we need to plug in\, we’ll plug in. We’re open to anything.” \nIt’s that attitude\, backed up by talent\, that marks great musicians\, traditional or progressive. The Travelin’ McCourys are twenty-first century musical pilgrims and adventurers. Béla Fleck is a fifteen-time Grammy Award winner who has taken the instrument across multiple genres\, and Abigail Washburn a singer-songwriter and clawhammer banjo player who re-radicalized it by combining it with Far East culture and sounds. The two met at a square dance\, began collaborating musically and eventually fell in love. Over the years\, they played together most visibly in the Sparrow Quartet alongside Ben Sollee and Casey Driessen and informally at a pickin’ party here\, a benefit there\, or occasionally popping up in each other’s solo shows. Fans of tradition-tweaking acoustic fare eagerly anticipated that Béla & Abigail would begin making music together as a duo.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the season with the joyous and triumphant sounds of the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus as they perform traditional favorites and modern classics. \nThe Boston Gay Men’s Chorus (BGMC) is one of New England’s largest and most successful community-based choruses. Founded in 1982\, the voice ensemble of some 200 voices is celebrated for its outstanding musicianship\, creative programming\, groundbreaking community outreach\, and an innovative educational program. Under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Reuben M. Reynolds III\, the BGMC sings a wide spectrum of classical and popular music and creates social change by providing a positive\, affirming image of the LGBTQ+ community. The Chorus is heard live by thousands of people each season and millions more through recording\, television and internet broadcasts. CBS-WBZ named the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus one of the “top 5” choruses in the city of Boston. The Boston Business Journal has named BGMC one of the top 10 performing arts organizations in the city each year since 2018. BGMC is a Cultural Ambassador — being the first LGBTQ+ chorus to perform in Poland in 2005\, the Middle East in 2015 and in South Africa in June 2018. \nThe Chorus’ performance of Joyful & Triumphant & Gay at Mechanics Hall on December 4 is its first in-person holiday show since 2019.

At age 12\, he discovered skateboarding\, which helped him find and fall in love with punk rock. SUMMARY:Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra 42nd Annual Holiday Pops Concert at Mechanics Hall
DESCRIPTION:     The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra\, led by Principal Conductor Myron Romanul\, will presents its 42nd Holiday Pops Concert at Worcester's Mechanics Hall on Saturday\, December 10\, 2022 at 8PM. This year's concert will feature the orchestra along with vocal soloists Jane Shivick\, soprano and Christon Carney\, tenor\, a combined chorus composed of The Salisbury Singers (under the direction of Bradford Dumont)\, The Worcester Children's Chorus (under the direction of Pamela Mindell) and students from area colleges. Also featured will be Step Dancers from the Murphy Academy of Irish Dance\, a jazz ensemble drawn from the orchestra\, audience sing alongs\, and a visit from Santa\, all in a setting with cabaret tables. Repertoire for this year's performance will feature music of Anderson\, Bizet\, Strauss\, Tchaikovsky\, Williams\, and others. . Floor table seats to this year's concert are sold out.
