DESCRIPTION:The Worcester Youth Orchestras welcomes all interested students to audition for one of its many ensembles. Whether your a fan of jazz\, band music\, symphonic or chamber music\, we have many ensembles that provide transformational musical experiences\, a welcoming social environment of students from more than 60 communities across Central Massachsuetts. WYO celebrates its 75th Season with many exciting concerts and events at Mechanics Hall\, and be sure to join us for the WY Symphony Orchestra's German & Austrian Tour in June 2023!  \nOpen to students grades 12 and under who study winds\, brass\, percussion\, harp\, strings and guitar. See our website for the various ensembles offered and the audition requirements. We're making Music Together with babies\, toddlers and pre-schoolers. accompanied by moms and dads\, sometimes grandparents too.  For ages birth to five with caregiver\, these weekly classes nurture every child's inner musician.  The award-winning research-based Music Together curriculum is used around the world. Choose from six locations in and around Worcester.  This Winter we're using the Sticks Song Collection\, one of nine different collections used over three years.  \nNot quite sure?  Here are some of the benefits of making Music Together: \n\nStrengthened language and literacy skills\nEnhanced social and emotional development\nPattern recognition ( = math skills in the future)\nLearning to plan guide\, and self-regulate behaviour\nComfort and success as a maker of music – the simple joy of music that lasts a lifetime.\n\nRegistration opens Wednesday\, December 7th.  Winter tuition:  $184.  Discounts available for siblings.  Financial Aid applications available if your family income is below $60\,000 annually.  Tuition includes song book and CD for at home use.

SUMMARY:The Nutcracker Ballet | Evening Show
DESCRIPTION:No holiday season is complete without the beloved holiday classic\, Tchaikovsky’s The  Nutcracker! For 40 years\, Dance Prism of Concord\, MA has enchanted Worcester audiences–both young and old–with the ballet’s beauty\, joy\, and magic. Whether your first time seeing The Nutcracker\, or your fortieth\, don’t miss this Christmas tradition at Mechanics Hall! \nYoung audience members will be invited to meet a special Nutcracker character after each performance. \n  \nDance Prism\, founded in 1982 by Scott Ranagan and Mary Demaso\, is a classically focused ensemble\, whose mission is to bring the spectrum of ballet into the communities of New England in an accessible form. Its touring schedule regularly includes appearances in such venues as Worcester’s Mechanics Hall\, the Collins Center in Andover\, and the Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College in Fall River. The company also provides performances\, lecture demonstrations\, and workshops for a number of private and public schools and retirement communities throughout the region. \nDance Prism is composed of approximately 30 professional dancers and apprentices\, supplemented for larger productions such as The Nutcracker by serious ballet students who audition annually for the company. Dance Prism’s casts include dancers based throughout the northeast region and eastern and western seaboard.
