DESCRIPTION:Born in London and raised there and in Liverpool\, D.P. MacManus later came to be known as\n“Elvis Costello”. He has been performing in public for over fifty years\, solo\, with the pianist\,\nSteve Nieve and with the bands Rusty\, the Attractions\, His Confederates including two former\nmembers of Elvis Presley’s TCB Band The Rude Five\, an acoustic ensemble\, The Sugarcanes\nand his current ensemble\, The Imposters. \nElvis Costello is the composer and lyricist of over six hundred published titles\, including fifteen\nsongs co-written with Paul McCartney and renowned collaborations with Allen Toussaint\, the\nBrodsky Quartet and T Bone Burnett. \nCostello has composed songs for Roy Orbis on\, Georgie Fame\, Chet Baker\, Dusty Springfield\,\nSolomon Burke and Johnny Cash and written songs with Loretta Lynn\, Bill Frisell\, Aimee Mann\,\nChris Difford\, Rosanne Cash and Kris Kristofferson\, Carole King and his wife\, Diana Krall. His\ncompositions have been recorded by George Jones\, Linda Ronstadt\, June Tabor\, Christy\nMoore\, Norma Waterson and Bjork. \nCostello is a two-time Grammy Award winner firstly with Burt Bacharach for the song\, “I Still\nHave That Other Girl” as Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 1998 and then in 2019 for his\n30th album release\, “Look Now”\, in the Best Traditional Pop category. DESCRIPTION:Tickets are now available for a concert by the Worcester Symphony Orchestra in Worcester’s Mechanics Hall at 7:30 pm on Saturday\, March 11.  Tickets are available through the orchestra’s Web site (worcesstersymphony.org) or from the Mechanics Hall box office at 508-752-0888. \n  \nThe concert will begin with Beethoven’s stirring “Coriolan” Overture and include the Keyboard Concerto Number 1 in D minor of J.S. Bach\, and the Symphony Number 1 of Johannes Brahms. The program also includes Arvo Part’s “Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten.” Pianist Father Sean Duggan will be the guest soloist in the Bach concerto. The entire program will be conducted by WSO Music Director John Roderick MacDonald. \n  \nTickets are priced at $42 and $35 for adults\, $40 and $32 for seniors\, and $12 for students. Since 1982\, he has performed as sideman or leader in groups that included artists George Garzone\, Jaleel Shaw\, Robert Glasper\, Becca Stevens\, Anthony Cox\, Reggie Workman\, Francois Moutin\, Matt Penman\, Brandon Owens\, Chris Tordini\, John Lockwood\, Doug Weiss\, Calvin Hill\, Chip Jackson\, Keith Copeland\, John Riley\, Dan Weiss\, Ari Hoenig\, Dafnis Prieto and Obed Calvaire. \nRory also teaches at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York\, where he designed and teaches the Advanced Rhythm Curriculum. \n  \nMechanics Hall gratefully acknowledges the following Brown Bag Series partners and sponsors \n90.5 FM WICN\nThe Fred Harris Daniels Foundation\nMassachusetts Cultural Council\n
