SUMMARY:Virtual Poetry Writing Workshop with Susan Roney-O'Brien (May)
DESCRIPTION:This virtual poetry workshop is a vehicle for critique\, a time of close reading and thoughtful responses that help craft the written word so that it says exactly what the author intends. The focus is the work itself. Poets are respectful of each other\, value the craft\, understand the courage it takes to have work critiqued\, and make the final decisions about their own writing. Please join us.  \nWriting prompts will be shared with registrants one week before the workshop via a shared Google Document\, and we request you submit your work at least three days before the workshop to give attendees time to read your poem. The link to the Google Document can be found in the confirmation email when you register.  \nSusan Roney-O’Brien earned her MFA at Warren Wilson College and is the author of five poetry collections. She hosts monthly poetry readings\, teaches workshops and coordinates the Stanley Kunitz summer writing series.

DESCRIPTION:This event will see the WPL Main Library transformed into an 18-hole mini golf course with greens and holes winding through the stacks. Friday night Mini Golf After Dark will offer an adults (21+) only mini golf event with food\, adult beverages and live music. A diverse selection of ethnic food will be provided by Worcester Regional Food Hub. Beer and wine will be available for purchase from Redemption Rock Brewery and Decanted Wine Trucks. Our mission is to create safe and accessible recreational infrastructure for the kids of Worcester.  \nEach year\, we host our highly anticipated Build Day event\, which brings together community members\, local college students\, and businesses to work towards a common goal of improving our city. This year\, our Build Day rally will commence at Worcester City Hall at 9 am on April 22nd\, 2023. \nOnce the rally has concluded\, each volunteer departs to their pre-designated site out of our 22 different locations across the city of Worcester. These sites include building playgrounds\, constructing indoor libraries\, landscaping\, and other exciting projects. \nWe are proud to say that with the help of our dedicated volunteers\, we are able to complete most projects within the same day. Depending on your site\, the projects will be completed before 4 pm. \nJoin us for a day of community building and making a difference in the lives of the Worcester community. We can't wait to see you there!
