DESCRIPTION:This virtual poetry workshop is a vehicle for critique\, a time of close reading and thoughtful responses that help craft the written word so that it says exactly what the author intends. The focus is the work itself. Poets are respectful of each other\, value the craft\, understand the courage it takes to have work critiqued\, and make the final decisions about their own writing. Please join us. Writing prompts will be shared with registrants one week before the workshop\, and we request you submit your work at least three days before the workshop to give attendees time to read your poem. \nSusan Roney-O’Brien earned her MFA at Warren Wilson College and is the author of five poetry collections. She hosts monthly poetry readings\, teaches workshops and coordinates the Stanley Kunitz summer writing series.

DESCRIPTION:Fresh off season 22 of NBC's The Voice\, join Worcester's own\, Cara Brindisi for her last stop on The Snow Globe Tour. You may have seen Cara perform numerous times over the years at Mechanics Hall as direct support for local and national acts.  This holiday\, don't miss her headlining show in The Great Hall with special performances by other artists from The Voice!  The evening will include a mix of holiday tunes\, original songs\, her own renditions of her nationally televised performances\, and stories from the stage.\n  \nAbout Cara Brindisi:\nDescribed as 'perfect' by John Legend and 'hypnotic' by Blake Shelton\, Cara Brindisi is a vocalist with equal parts power and ease. After a decade of performances that include direct support for Chris Isaak\, Tower of Power\, Adam Lambert\, and Dispatch\, Cara brought her talents to The Voice stage season 22\, landing her a spot on Team Gwen. Gwen Stefani acknowledged the soothing and effortless quality to Cara's voice as well as her gift for story-telling. Cara has been writing\, recording\, and performing original music for the entirety of her career\, many of her songs inspired by her initial career as a Music Therapist. Her studies at Berklee College of Music led her to pursue this work\, predominantly with those at end of life in Hospice. Somewhere between these two careers\, the gentle and the glamour\, lies the authentic feeling one is guaranteed when listening to Cara Brindisi perform live in any type of setting.

Bring us your favorite piece from your art class or your personal artistic practice\, or show off your latest experiment. You do not need to be an art student or in an art class to submit.  \nStudents may submit a maximum of three pieces for consideration\, and must complete a separate form for each piece. When submitting more than one piece\, please return to the original link to make additional submissions. \nSubmission is free to students of our institutional partners: Anna Maria College\, Assumption University\, Clark University\, College of the Holy Cross\, and Worcester State University. There is a nonrefundable $5 submission fee per submission for students of any other school. \nThis is a juried exhibition\, meaning that the juror will consider all eligible submissions and select certain artworks to be shown at ArtsWorcester. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the holiday season with Christmas sounds from around the world and across centuries! \nChristmas at Mechanics Hall\, organized by the Hall’s Composer-in-Residence Leonardo Ciampa\, will feature a variety of festive music—from African American spirituals to traditional carols—as well as a selection of new holiday pieces composed just for this concert by Mr. Ciampa. \nPerformers include the a cappella Westborough High School Chamber Singers\, directed by Alyson Greer Espinosa; the acclaimed\, Boston-based vocal group Ensemble Lyrae; soloists Elizabeth Keusch\, soprano; Michelle Deluise\, mezzo-soprano; Christon Carney\, tenor; and Eliomar Nascimento\, bass; and Mr. Ciampa on the Hall's Worcester "Hook" Organ. At the end of the program\, the audience will be invited to join the performers in an informal carol sing-a-long. \nThis free noontime concert is presented by Mechanics Hall and the Worcester chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
